Verizon Wireless has confirmed via their Twitter page that the long-awaited Motorola Droid Bionic will see its official launch on September 8th, though this was later denied by Motorola themselves. Elsewhere, rumors regarding the release date of the elusive iPhone 5 are still failing to distance themselves fro, the starting blocks, with no official backing or denial ever having come to pass so far.

Verizon Confirms Motorola Droid Bionic Release Date – Still No iPhone 5 in Sight

Motorola’s new flagship device is set to be the very first device on the Verizon network to offer 4G LTE support backed by a dual-core processor and 1Gb of RAM. The Bionic has a quite enormous battery life, aqHD display measuring in at 4.3 inches and weighing in at just 158.8 grams.

In the case of the iPhone 5, sadly we know as little about the spec sheet as we do about the release date at this stage – amounting to educated guesswork at best. Of course, it seems most likely that we can expect something of an end to end upgrade of the current iPhone 4, with specs that may not even closely match those of rival brands, though somehow create possibly the best user experience the world has ever seen.

However, the Achilles Heel for the iPhone 5 may come by way of lack of LTE support, which again has not yet been confirmed but seems incredibly unlikely at this time.

As such, assuming both devices see the light of day within a short space of time of each-other, it will likely be something of a coin toss as to whether users favor raw power or overall user experience. The battle has usually fallen quite easily into the lap of Apple, but with stranger competition than ever before, a change in the tides may well be imminent.
