A builder of custom homes in Texas has proved once and for all that there is simply no need to ever break the bank in order to construct truly green homes. The company in question, Dallas base Greenbrook Homes, has just been awarded an LEED gold certification for its most recent green home project, which was built at standard market cost.
The design of the home includes Water Sense Plumbing, which reduces the overall amount of water used considerably, while landscaping designed to withstand drought conditions was used outdoors to further maximize the use of all available water. Low VOC paints, stains and finishes were used throughout the interior of the home to cut down toxins and pollutants in the air.
The owner of the company has made a statement claiming that the new project proves that there is no reason green homes cannot be built in line with standard Market prices, meaning that such homes should no longer be in anything close to an elite bracket. The matter is in no way limited strictly to investment costs and those attributed to the materials, but instead it is a case of forward thinking an innovation in finding alternative methods of creating ideal green results.
The news comes as the US home buying market as a whole has once again seen an incredibly disappointing week, with overall mortgage application activity continuing to plummet on a daily basis in one of the poorest performing years on record.
