T-Mobile has announced via press release the arrival of a new Android Smartphone which looks set to go head to head with the upcoming iPhone 5 – which is the new HTC Amaze. According to the latest reports from within the industry, T-Mobile will not be receiving or stoking the iPhone 5 this year, therefore it stands to reason that the HTC Amaze could indeed be once of the devices looking to remedy the ongoing delay.
HTC’s newest powerhouse is to feature a dual-core 1.5GHz processor – the same chip as can be found in the carrier’s iteration of the Samsung Galaxy S2. Furthermore, as the device is made by HTC, it will also feature the highly-revered HTC Sense UI on top of the Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread OS.
According to the network, the new HTC Amaze ill hit the shelves on October 12th to join the ranks of the Samsung Galaxy S2, with preorders being taken from October 10th. Buyers will be able to take home their own HTC Amaze for a price of $259.99 following a $50 mail rebate, which is slightly higher than the $229.99 of the S2 – both of which require two year service agreements.
So, the only question that remains is whether or not either or both devices stand a chance of competing against the upcoming iPhone 5 when it officially sees the light of day later this year. Needless to say, with no confirmed specs the subject is very much open to debate, but if Apple’s historical trends are anything to go by, the stage is set for a battle of truly epic proportions.
