Earlier this year, the HTC Thunderbolt was launched with quite the bang to say the very least, being the first 4G LTE handset to arrive on the Verizon network. Needless to say, its title did not remain for very long and the gauntlet was quickly thrown down by the Samsung Droid Charge, which not only matched the overall specs of the Thunderbolt, but also went one step further with its Super AMOLED display.
Today, the bloodline continues strongly and the stage is once again set for a battle of epic proportions, as the next generations from both manufacturers are ready to fight for centre stage. At some point between now and mid-November, the world can expect t o take delivery of both the HTC Vigor and the Samsung Droid Prime – which will once again offer 4G LTE and strong specs end to end.
The HTC Vigor is poised to feature a 4.5 inch HD touchscreen, 1.5GHz dual core processor, 8 megapixel camera and the endlessly cool Beats by Dr. Dre audio technology.
Of course, the Droid Prime is certainly no shrinking violet, offering up a 4.65 inch Super AMOLED screen, 1.2GHZ dual core processor, 5 megapixel camera and, perhaps most importantly of all, the title of one of the first devices in the world to feature Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.
Needless to say, it is of course important not to confuse the Droid Prime with the upcoming Nexus Prime, which wit a faster processor, improved camera and lengthier battery life will quite simply wipe the floor with the HTC Vigor.
