When selling a home, it is important that the residential property: Curb Appeal is high enough to bring potential buyers inside the house. If it looks unkempt and shabby, they will assume the interior and mechanics of the house have not been taken care of over the years. They will simply think the appliances and important functional components, such as heating and cooling systems are not well cared for either.
Besides, a house must look attractive to give the shoppers a feel of what it would be like to live there. The basics are to have the lawn newly cut and trimmed. A flower garden is a lovely touch and many shoppers are impressed by trees. Bushes should also be neatly trimmed. Of course, the house must be painted rather than have an old coat of paint that is chipping. Sidewalks should be swept and leaves raked and removed, or snow shoveled, depending on the season.
A house with long grass, weeds in the garden and trash littered here and there in the yard are sure to frighten the shoppers off. Of course, there are those shoppers looking for what is called a fixer-upper. The fixer-upper building does not usually bring in the highest sale price even if the interior is viewed.
It is not sufficient to prepare the front of the house only. If attracted to the residential property: Curb Appeal may be the thing that gets them out of the car. But, surely, when spending the amount of money that is for the most expensive purchase of their lives, the shoppers will look at the sides of the house and the back as well. If the windows have cracks, or the back screen door has a hole in it, they will take note. If the back yard is not as neat as the front yard, they will take note of that as well. If there is a vast difference they will think you are trying to fool them. At that point, they will certainly wonder what other defects you may have hidden from them.
